SME Careers connects subject matter experts with paid, remote, project-based work helping to train and evaluate AI systems.
If you're here for the first time, this portal walks you through everything — from applying to join the network, to getting set up once you're accepted, to understanding how your work and pay are managed.
What you'll work on
Contributors in the SME Careers network work on tasks such as:
- Reviewing and rating AI-generated outputs against defined quality criteria
- Providing domain-specific expert feedback to improve AI models
- Completing structured evaluation projects assigned to your skill set
- Contributing specialized knowledge in areas like law, medicine, finance, science, or technology All work is remote and project-based.
How the process works
Here's the full journey from application to active contributor:

| 1. Create an account | Sign up at sme.careers with your email address |
| 2. Build your profile | Add your background, skills, education, and resume |
| 3. AI interview | Complete a ~15-minute video interview with our AI interviewer |
| 4. Exam (some roles) | Certain roles require a written or video qualification exam |
| 5. Offer & onboarding | If accepted, sign your contract through Deel and join Discord |
| 6. Project assignment | Get matched to a project and start contributing |
Passing the interview and completing onboarding makes you eligible for project matching. It does not guarantee an immediate project placement — availability depends on active client needs. We'll reach out when a suitable project becomes available.
