Contracting via Deel

SME Careers pays you through Deel, a platform for international contractor payments. Before you can be paid, you need an active Deel contract and a verified identity (KYC). This is one of the two onboarding steps, alongside Discord.

Requesting your contract

Go to Settings → Onboarding.
In the Deel section, select Request contract.
You'll receive an email from Deel with a link to create your Deel account and sign your contract.

Once your contract is registered, the Onboarding tab shows your Deel details: your Contract ID, Deel ID, whether Deel is active for you, your KYC status, and the date the onboarding was sent.

Completing your Deel onboarding

In Deel itself you will:

Create your account and complete your personal and tax details
Sign your contract
Verify your identity (KYC) by submitting an ID document

Once everything is in place, payments run on a weekly cycle. See Weekly payouts.

Understanding your KYC status

Your identity-verification status is shown with your Deel details in Settings → Onboarding:

Status	What it means	What to do
Not requested	Verification hasn't been initiated yet	Complete your Deel account setup first
Not submitted	Deel is waiting for your documents	Log in to Deel and submit your ID
Pending review	Your documents are being checked	Nothing; this usually resolves on its own
Approved	You're verified	Nothing; you're ready to be paid
Rejected	Your documents weren't accepted	Log in to Deel, check the reason, and resubmit (common causes: blurry photos, expired ID, name mismatch)
Expiring soon	Your verification document is about to expire	Update your document in Deel before it lapses
Expired	Your verification has lapsed	Resubmit a valid document in Deel

Troubleshooting

No email from Deel?

Check spam, then confirm your email address is correct in your profile. You can contact support to have the contract invitation resent.

KYC rejected repeatedly?

Deel's support can tell you the exact reason; make sure the name on your ID exactly matches your Deel account.

Contract shows as inactive?

Contracts can be waiting on signatures or review on Deel's side. Check your Deel dashboard for pending actions.

What happens next

With your contract active and KYC approved, your approved earnings are paid out through Deel on the weekly cycle. Track everything on the Finance page.
