Time tracking overview
When you join a project or bootcamp that pays by the hour, you track your working time with a tool called Insightful. This article explains what Insightful is and how it fits into getting paid.
Projects and bootcamps that pay by the hour use a tool called Insightful to record your working time. Here's what Insightful is and how it fits into getting paid.
What is Insightful?
Insightful is a desktop time-tracking app. You may also see it called Workpuls. SME Careers uses it to record the hours you spend on project work, so your time is documented accurately and you're paid fairly for it.
You'll be invited to Insightful by email once you're matched to a project or bootcamp that requires hour tracking. Not every task is hourly, so you won't always need it. When a project does use it, tracking your time correctly is what turns your work into payable hours.
What you use — and what you don't
SME Careers only uses the Time Tracking tab in Insightful.
Ignore the Attendance tabThe Attendance tab isn't part of how we track or pay for work. You can leave it alone.
Why accurate tracking matters
Your tracked time feeds directly into how much you're paid. Only certain categories of tracked time are payable, and random checks may be done to confirm your recorded time reflects real work. Start and stop the timer at the right moments, follow your project's rules, and your hours stay accurate and your payments on time.
