Important Tracking Guidelines

Please follow these rules to ensure accurate tracking.

  • Please do not change the task status in Insightful. This is very important.You only need to turn the timer ON and OFF.
  • You must not track time from multiple devices at the same time. Using more than one device may cause inaccurate records.
  • Only start the timer when you are actively working on the assigned project.
    • Do not keep the timer running while:
      1. Taking breaks
      2. Doing unrelated work
      3. Being away from your computer
  • Activity Monitoring: While the timer is active, Insightful may track:
    • Applications used
    • Websites visited
    • Screenshots
    • Screen recordings
    • Time spent on specific tasks
    • These activities are recorded only while the timer is ON.

Special Instructions for macOS Users: For macOS users, please enable screen recordings. See instructions on this page. Also, please check MacOS Permissions Required for Insightful here. This is a mandatory step.

Active Time:

When you turn on the Insightful tracker, it begins recording your time. This time appears in your Insightful account as Active Time. If no activity (mouse or keyboard movement) is detected for more than 2 minutes, the tracker will stop counting Active Time and record it as Idle Time.

If you forget to start the timer, correcting the time later can take time. If this happens, contact: [email protected] Include: Project name, Date, Approximate hours worked, Reason for the missing record.
